Twitch Sub Badges Updated!

Been a little while since we last had a post / update here hasn’t it – for which I apologise, things have changed quite a bit with my day job since I originally setup the website last summer which has reduced the time I’ve had to complement the streams with side content such as the blog posts on the state of streaming that I had planned, and so forth.

I still feel it is a very useful resource to have however, and will be making some changes over the coming months to make more of a general hub for my content creation. Part of this will be creating a new home for my photographic portfolio, which currently resides mostly on a very ancient Flickr account which predictably over the course of COVID has become rather inactive.

So to the focus of today’s update – the Twitch Channel Sub Badges. Since I last updated these with the rebrand to ‘CJzone’ back in late 2019, Twitch have added a lot more slots for us affiliate streamers to fill out – it used to be we had about four of them which capped out at the end of the first year, but now like partners we unlock a new slot every six months based on the anniversary of when we became an affiliate and therefore able to offer Twitch channel subscriptions.

I have been an affiliate now for nearly 4 years – I earned my sub button in June 2018 after completing my first playthrough of Detroit Become Human (which coincidentally, remains high up on my list of all-time favourite games), and with the additional six-monthly slots that have been granted to me since I last updated the sub badges, we have gone from having six slots before to over a dozen.

I was fortunate that I chose a theme for my sub badges all the way back in 2018 that had options for plenty of variations going forward – the 2018 tyre compound range used in Formula One. Yuukez did an amazing job of creating 10 designs at the time including a ‘special’ fictional design with gold sidewall lettering for use on gifted sub alerts, which I thought at the time would cover all our potential future needs.

With the huge expansion of sub badge slots that are now available to streamers such as myself, this created an initial bit of concern – are there enough variations to fill out all or even most of the slots we have, is it maybe time to consider a new theme?

Fortunately, I had a moment of inspiration from the 1994 Ferrari and 2020-21 Alpha Tauri that allowed me to expand the design theme out further still – a different colour for the wheel rim and nut. And so, a further ten variations of the design have been created. Based on how Twitch currently has the sub badges structured, this should see us good until at least the middle of 2026!

Below, I present the new expanded set of emote slots in an easy to reference table, complete with the full size 72×72 pixel versions of the sub badges you will otherwise only see in the official Twitch app on high-res mobile devices:
